Situated one hour East of Seoul, Chuncheon is the capital of Gangwon-do. With a population of just under 300,000 Chuncheon has all of the amenities of a large city, but maintains a friendly charm.
Chuncheon is a popular destination for both Korean and international tourists. The popular drama series Winter Sonata was filmed in Chuncheon, with its breathtaking scenery.

Chuncheon acts as a mecca for outdoors people, with hundreds of kilometers of hiking and biking trails, pristine mountains, rivers and lakes. Gangcheon Ski Resort is also situated 30 minutes outside of the city and is accessible by bus or train from Chuncheon.
INTERNATIONAL MIME FESTIVAL
The Chuncheon International Mime Festival is one of the top three mime festivals in the world, along with events in France and the UK. It begins with “City of Water” turning downtown Chuncheon into a giant water park. One of the highlights is “City of Fire” a fiery night performance that lights up the city. Throughout the festival, you can enjoy unique shows focused on movement, body, and visual art.
This festival brings together people, art, and the city—and is now one of Korea’s most popular performing arts events.
Taste Dakgalbi
Chuncheon Dakgalbi is a famous Korean dish made with spicy stir-fried chicken. It includes vegetables, rice cakes, and a flavorful red chili sauce. The dish is cooked at the table, making it fun and perfect for groups. Many people finish by adding rice to make delicious fried rice.
